With the aim of decongesting central road arteriesthe service of industry professionals, but also the facilitation of the thousands of visitors to the city, the Municipality of Athens proceeded, for the first time, to determination and marking stopping areas and parking of tourist busesacross the city.

The relevant decision of the Municipal Council was taken, after a productive consultation of the municipal authority with industry bodies and vehicle owners as now the number of tourist buses operating in the city has exceeded all previous ones.

The 11 spots where parking and standing are allowed during peak hours – from 9am to 6pm

1. Odos Ymittos (from Phrynonos to Iliopoleos-downstream/right side).

2. Athens Avenue (from Mitrodoro to Spyros Patsis-downstream/right side).

3. Dionysos Parking Lot (halfway between Robertou Gali and Garivaldis streets).

4. Dora Stratos Theater Parking Lot (Arakynthos opposite – cathodic current / right side).

5. Thessaloniki Street (from Dimophontos to Persephones-left side in contact with ISAP lines).

6. Stesikleous Street (junction with Kallisthenous Street – down stream to Dora Stratou Theatre) – Today there is a regulatory no-entry sign at the junction with Kallisthenous Street, which is permanently circumvented by vehicle drivers. There is a relative recess for temporary bus parking, approximately 10m.

7. Persephone Street (from Thessaloniki to Piraeus-right side).

8. Agia Annis Street (from Agios Polykarpos to Iera Odos – right side).

9. Hatzichristou Street (from Andreas Syggrou Avenue to Makrygianni Street – right side).

10. Theodorou Diligiannis Street (downstream towards Karaiskaki square-right side/opposite gas station).

11. Thermopylon Street (from Psaromiligo to Melidoni – right side).

Parking is prohibited on Amalia Avenue and special signs allow parking at the following points:

-From Goura to Lysikrates-downstream/right side

-From Lysikrates to Dionysios Areopagitou-downstream/right side).

Parking is prohibited on Amalias Avenue and only a short stop is allowed to get off and get on.

Please note that especially for double-decker buses, only stops for alighting and boarding are allowed, at Kallimarmaro and Syntagma.
