The Ministry of the Interior reminds of the facilities that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have in exercising their right to vote.

In particular, with an article that was included in the electoral law (‘Article 83, par. 3A of p.d. 26/2012) and was put into effect for the first time in the parliamentary elections of May 21, the creation of specially designed reception and support area for voters with disabilities and reduced mobility in polling stations that do not meet the accessibility criteria for the disabled.

Therefore, it is pointed out that the relevant municipalities must take care of the creation of the specially designed space and appoint a competent official.

At the same time, the judicial representatives are called upon to assist the voter in order to exercise his right to vote unhindered.

It is recalled that in the space inside the voting partition for the selection of the ballot, exclusive access, if necessary, apart from the voter, have:

a) the legal representative

b) any companion of the voter, under the responsibility and presence of the judicial representative.

In the voting booth and in the reception and support area for voters with disabilities and reduced mobility, assistance dogs (guides) for people with disabilities are allowed.
