According to an announcement by the Directorate of Forests of the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki,

– those who move in the forest or in an area that can be a passage of the bear in search of food, it would be good to cause noise by their movement, by speeches or even by the use of whistles, so that if there is a bear to move away.

– In case they are on board, to remain in their vehiclemove at low speed, turn on the vehicle lights and to honk while if they encounter a bear.

– The bear should not be surprisedto be disturbed, to feel that she is in danger, threatened or that she is trapped, and in any case, she should not be disturbed if she is female and accompanied by her young.

At the meeting, reference was made to bear occurrences in the areas of responsibility of the Thessaloniki Forestry, (Hortiatis, Fragma Triadiou, Lakkia), in the areas of responsibility of the Lagadas Forestry, (Sochos, Avgi, Petrokerasa), and in the area of ​​responsibility of the Stavros Forestry (Vrasna) within of P.E. Thessaloniki.

All the immediate measures to be taken were thoroughly discussed and decided, as well as the notification of the Central Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, in order to achieve a more appropriate management of occurrences both for the safety of citizens and for the survival and well-being of the bear.
