12,619 will amount to young farmers which will be drawn up through its new programme ELGO-DIMITRA, with a total budget of 12,303,525 euros, according to an invitation issued by the Organization.

This action concerns the vocational training and skills development for young farmers, so that they are given the necessary knowledge and skills to become entrepreneurial farmers, who will consciously make decisions about their farms.

Beneficiaries are young farmerswhose actions were included in the framework of the 3rd Call of Sub-Measure 6.1 “Establishment of New Farmers” of the Rural Development Program (RDP) of Greece during the transition period 2021 and 2022 for the entire territory, i.e. for the Regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece, Epirus, Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Peloponnese, Attica, South Aegean, North Aegean and Crete.

As stated in the invitation, the training program includes the following fields/subjects:

  • Knowledge of the obligations and possibilities deriving from the Common Agricultural Policy as well as the national policy for rural development.
  • Financial management of holdings / use of ICT and new technologies.
  • Codes of good agricultural practice, sound management of natural resources and rural work safety, coping with and adapting to climate change.
  • Trading and processing of agricultural products, with an emphasis on short chains.
  • Specialized knowledge about the direction and needs of the farm (such as waste management specific to animal production, crop and animal diseases and enemies, new alternative crops, fertilization, animal nutrition, etc.).
