Polls opened at 07:00 and will close at 19:00 – Useful information before entering the screen
9,813,595 Greek citizens – voters over the age of 17 – are going to the polls today to exercise their right to vote and elect the new government and the 300 members of the new Parliament.
For the address of the polling station in which they are voting, interested parties can be informed from the digital platform “Learn where you are voting” on the website of the Ministry of the Interior or, alternatively, from the telephone lines 2131361500 and 2131313800.
Voters must bring with them their identity card or the relevant temporary certificate from the competent authority or their passport or other document proving their identity (driver’s license, health card).
It is noted that “cut” ID cards and expired passports are also acceptable.
The identification can also be done using the digital identity that is accessible through the government portal https://wallet.gov.gr.
We vote for a party, we don’t “cross” a candidate
The difference with the previous elections is that this time we do not put a preference cross on the names of candidates as these elections are conducted by the list method, in which MPs are elected first in order to appear on the ballot papers.
At 20.30 the first results
The polls close at 19:00 and the votes are counted. After the completion of the procedure, each judicial representative transmits the result of his electoral division directly to the Ministry of the Interior via a tablet device. In this way, the times of the first safe and the final result, as well as of the crossover, are significantly reduced.
According to experts’ estimates, an image for more than 10% of the territory will be available by 20:30, while by 22:00 it is expected that 80% – 90% of the election results nationwide will have been integrated.
