He passed away “Mr. F-16”, Denis Plessas.

He was a manager of Lockheed Martin who, from the first years of the post-colonial period and until recently, was behind all the contracts signed by Greece with the American giant for the purchase of F-16 fighters.

As reported by ERT, a few weeks ago his health had already deteriorated due to aggressive cancer.

He graduated from Abeteio School in 1968.

In Egypt he was involved in the Student movement and was a founding member and President of the Greek Students of Cairo, and later Honorary President. He was also a rank-and-file member of the Greek Scouts of Cairo, and was a “Scout of the Nation”.

He had over 4 decades of involvement in the Aeronautical Industry.

His career included participation in the fields of Marketing Management and Strategic Marketing (Marketing Management), creation of aeronautical maintenance facilities and aeronautical modifications, creation of joint ventures and strategic alliances for important international programs.

He coordinated and developed corporate strategic marketing programs with new business activities that led to the creation of joint ventures, alliances and aircraft sales in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas.

He held a B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Cairo University of Technology (1973), with a B.Sc. degree from the National Technical University of Athens (1973).

During his postgraduate studies in England he obtained an M.Sc. (1974) majoring in Aircraft Design.

In 1975 M.Sc./ MCIT in Aeronautical Engineering at Cranfield Institute of Technology. In 1976 he obtained an M.Sc./DIC degree in Management Science and Management Systems from Imperial College of Science & Technology – London University.

In 1991 he attended and successfully graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in the “Senior Executive Management Leadership” Program.

He worked for about seven years in the Greek Aviation Industry where he organized the training, programming and marketing departments. Negotiated and signed important contracts with USAFE, NAMSA and other NATO organizations as well as Airbus, Aerospatiale, Aeritalia etc.

He was hired by Lockheed Aircraft Service Company in August 1983 with responsibility for the Middle East.

In April 1985 he was promoted to Director of Government Programs for the Middle East and Africa at Lockheed Aircraft Service Company.

In December 1988 he was promoted to Director of International Programs for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Since 1991 he has been Vice President of International Projects covering both Lockheed Corporation International (LCISA) and Lockheed Aircraft Service (LAS).

In 1995 he assumed Vice President International Business Development for Europe, Middle East and Africa for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics International (LMAI) and from 1997 as regional Vice President Operations.
