Rafal: The first French fighters take off for Greece-Tomorrow they fly over the Acropolis

Greece sends a loud message of upgraded deterrent power as tomorrow, Wednesday, it receives the first six French Rafals with Greek colors.

The fighters are expected to be around noon at the base of Tanagra, however before they are going to fly over Athens while they will make a symbolic crossing over the Acropolis

Then they will land in the 114th battle wing of Tanagra, in their natural base where the prime minister, the Minister of Defense, the head of the General Staff and the heads of the branches will be, for their ceremony of joining the 332 degree.

In this way, they will join the air force and in record time, just one year after the agreement with the French side.

The remaining six Rafals are expected at the end of the year and six more from the first order in 2023.

In the coming weeks, the contract announced by Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the TIF is expected to be signed so that Greece can acquire a total of 24 powerful Rafals.

The two Rafale that will come to Greece tomorrow will be two-seater to be used for the training of young pilots while the other four will be single-seater.

So far, the training of eight Greek pilots and 50 aircraft technicians has been completed, which took place at the Meriniak base on French soil by personnel of the manufacturer Dassault.

The acquisition of the 18 French fighters (including six new and 12 used) will cost 2.32 billion euros, including the weapons they carry, according to the contract signed last January.

The Rafale, among others, has a range of 2,800 miles and a large fuel capacity, has two engines, is equipped with modern and powerful electronic scanning radar and has the ability to carry two Exocet missiles.
