It was trapped in a rock, just next to a cliff about 100 meters deep and even in adverse weather conditions as it started to rain
Lucky in her misfortune was a young Polish woman as her attempt to cross the famous Calypso Gorge in the Red Water area put her life in danger.
The young woman started hiking from noon on Thursday using a navigation app. He used a route marker to enter the canyon from an extremely difficult point used only by professionals for descent.
The result was that he got trapped in a rock, just next to a cliff about 100 meters deep and even in adverse weather conditions as it started to rain!
The woman made use of the international emergency number 112 and notified the authorities. The saving grace for her rescue was her composure, as explained to onlarissa.gr by the deputy mayor of Agia and a businessman with vast experience in the field of action sports, Mr. Nikos Dagas, who characteristically said that “she kept both her composure and her psychology to levels that allowed her to help herself.”
Equally important was, according to Mr. Daga, the immediate mobilization of the 8th EMAK as well as the guidance he gave to Poland until its approach by the rescue teams.
However, two farmers from the area of Melivoia, who maintain estates in the adjacent area and know the paths and accessibility to the gorge, also played a decisive role.
Finally, the farmers as well as the EMAK rescuers arrived at the place where the young woman was trapped and removed her safely.
