A precision scale was found in their possession, as well as sums of money in banknotes of various countries, and they are being held in order to report to the Rhodes investigator next Monday
Criminal prosecution for drug trafficking was brought against two young people aged 18 and 17, of Polish origin, who were arrested in Rhodes with 109 “clips” of the drug MDMA in the hotel room where they were staying.
A precision scale was found in their possession, as well as sums of money in banknotes of various countries, and they are being held in order to apologize to the Rhodes investigator next Monday, accompanied by their lawyers Mr. Dimitris Dimitriadis and Ioannis Kokkinogeni.
Another person of Polish origin, aged 20, is also allegedly involved in the same case, but he was not arrested and is being sought.
According to what has been made known by the police, the case was solved the day before yesterday (Thursday, June 29, 2023), by police officers of the Rhodes Security Sub-Directorate.
In particular, yesterday evening the perpetrators were identified and a targeted search was carried out in the accommodation where they were staying, where they were found in their possession and confiscated:
• 109 micropackages of methamphetamine (MDMA) with a total weight of 73.1 grams, ready for distribution. • 2.3 grams of a substance of unknown chemical composition
• High accuracy weight scale
• The sums of 2,265 euros, 640 Polish zlotys, 100 US dollars, 10 British pounds
A case file was filed against the 17-year-old and the 18-year-old for possession and trafficking of narcotic substances and they were taken to the District Attorney’s Office of Rhodes, where after criminal charges were brought against them, they were referred for questioning. The two foreigners requested and received a deadline to prepare their apologies, for Monday, July 3.
However, it is worth noting that during preliminary investigation both arrested persons denied having anything to do with the drugs found in the room where they were staying and claimed that they came to Rhodes for vacation. In fact, the 18-year-old said that the money found was his and that his family had sent it to him. Both arrested persons are going to give detailed explanations to the investigator next Monday. Until then, their reservation continues.
The investigation of the case is part of the special operational actions of the Police Services of the South Aegean to combat the spread of drugs.
