The Agora returned renewed to Kypseli – Concert tomorrow, Tuesday, July 4, 7:30pm
The renovated Kypseli Municipal Market organizes a big welcome party on Tuesday 4 July, from 7.30 in the afternoon, for its new residents, for the neighborhood, for the people who supported the project, for those who dream of a daily point of reference, meeting, socializing and interaction, for all the residents of our city, and not only.
As the building works were completed and its heart, i.e. its shops, have life again and officially open their doors — 7 fixed and 2 pop up — , having welcomed people with the products and their ideas matching the vision of the space, with the this holiday invites us all to spend together in the new season and celebrate. Next Tuesday afternoon we will have the opportunity to tour all the new spaces of the shop-workshops, spend time in the renewed and beloved Atrium and, of course, get to know, if we have not already done so, the permanent historical exhibition designed by especially for the Market, the Industrial Museum of Fotaeri, entitled Municipal Market of Kypseli – Voices | Stories | People.
Taking a walk in its place we will have taken a walk in time, as we will watch fragments of the past of Greek cinema from black and white films that we have loved and that were filmed in this unique building — who has not seen the 1955 masterpiece Kalpiki Lira over and over again — and we will learn more about the original form and function of the Agora, among other things by observing the exhibits that are authentic objects of the old Agora.
Furthermore, we will discover, using other senses besides sight, the history not only of the building but also of the neighborhood of Kypseli, “getting to know” its people and about its people.
And as wherever there is celebration and music, so will the atmosphere of that day take off. The music producers of ATHINA 9.84 will bring along with their good mood and the most summer music for an evening where we will get to know each other, we will be happy and, most likely, we will end up dancing under the big fans of the venue. And the evening will end in the best way!
The baton will be taken by Paulina Voulgaraki with the concert “By the sea” and Violeta Ikaris, Pantelis Kyramargios, Thanos Matzilis, Eleanna Varelas. A special musical performance by the new wave of singers, who collaborate with the “Rhythm” Orchestra, on songs from their own discography.
