New president of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, the elected representatives are expected to be elected tomorrow, after the resignation of the mayor of Trikkaia Dimitris Papastergiou and his move to the Ministry of Digital Governance.

The Board of Directors of KEDE is convened tomorrow, Tuesday, July 4, by the acting 1st Vice-President of KEDE, Lazaro Kyrizoglosy, Mayor of Ampelokipi – Menemeni.

The meeting will start at 13.00, at the offices of KEDE (65 Akadimias and 8 Gennadiou, 3rd floor, Athens).

The most important successor of the new Minister of Digital Governance is the first vice-president of KEDE, Lazaros Kyrizoglou, mayor of Ampelokipi-Menemeni, whose term will last until the self-governing elections in October.

The process of electing a President

Regarding the election process, according to article 37, par. 4, 5 and 6 of PD75/2011 (Government Gazette A΄182) if the position of the President remains vacant for any reason, the new President is elected by the Board of Directors . of KEDE, within ten days after the position becomes vacant.

During its meeting, the Board of Directors elects the President from among its 31 members, by secret ballot.

Whoever gathers the absolute majority of those present is elected president.

If no result is reached after two consecutive votes, whoever receives the relative majority of those present in the third vote is elected.

If in the third ballot two or more receive an equal number of votes, it is acted between them draw by the chairman.
