July 2023 Full Moon: ‘Deer Moon’ Peaks Tonight – Stunning Images From Around the World

Tonight, Monday, July 3, the July Full Moon, also known as the “Deer Moon,” peaks in the sky.

This Full Moon is called the “Deer Moon” because, according to native tradition, every year at this time the antlers of the male deer are in a state of full growth.

The July full moon is one of four supermoons in 2023. It is 7% larger and appears brighter to the human eye.

In fact, the full moon is visible in the sky for about three days.

Other names for this moon are “Lightning Full Moon”, “Hay Full Moon” and “Water Honey Full Moon”.

The next full moon will be on August 1st.
