A modern, upgraded playground, properly designed so that children with disabilities can also enjoy it, was delivered by the Municipality of Athens to Neos Kosmos in the previous days.
The playground is located between the streets Krinagorou and Dimonaktos and has a total area of ​​1,428.98 sq.m.
The play and entertainment area has been modernized, get safe games and sports equipment and now provides the opportunity for young Athenians to spend their time creatively in a beautiful environment in the green.
The playground features, among other things, swings, see-saws, climbing, spinning and swinging compositions, an interesting composition with a wheelchair access ramp, as well as a wheelchair carousel.
There is also a fairy-tale triple tower with an accessible staircase, bridge, slides and a fireman’s pole, while the youngest children can enjoy special moments playing on specially designed surfaces with tunnels.
First Concern for the planning and construction of a playground is safety, according to the municipality’s announcement. According to the municipality, it has Certificate of Conformity by an accredited control body and a special operational fitness mark.
Its overall configuration and equipment ensure children and adults endless and safe play under the sun. It has rubber floors that meet the specifications of European standards, landscaped and gated area with metal fencing and is fully accessible to emergency vehicles.
“Another playground in the city is being renovated and is dynamically entering the daily life of young Athenians. Made with the latest safety standards and fully accessible to children with disabilities. The smiles and voices of the children are already flooding its spaces, filling the neighborhood of Neos Kosmos with joy,” said the mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, in a statement.
The playground has been enhanced with the required urban equipment, such as benches, water fountains, waste bins and baskets, as well as signs with useful information for parents and children.
