The perpetrators probably left the grenade unsecured on the windshield of the prison officer’s black jeep and disappeared by unknown means
A 45-year-old correctional officer, who works at the Korydallos Correctional Facility, owns the car – a black jeep – in which a grenade exploded at 05.00 in the morning
At the time of the explosion, the car was parked in an open parking lot, at 12 Rodou Street in Haidari.
A team of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Greek Armed Forces, which investigated the area, collected remnants of a defense-type grenade from the site, specifically the fork and the arming lever, which were taken to the forensic laboratories for investigation.
As estimated by the police, the perpetrators probably left the grenade unsecured on the windshield of the prison officer’s black jeep and disappeared by unknown means, while the explosion occurred immediately after.
The explosion caused extensive damage to the specific vehicle and two lighter cars that were parked next to it.
A preliminary investigation into the case is being carried out by Attica Security and the motive of the attack is being investigated.
