With the mercury “hitting” red, the risk of fires is increasing.

According to the information provided by the Fire Department, 50 forest fires broke out in the last 24 hours. Most were treated immediately, at their initial stage.

“The local investigative offices, as well as units of the Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.

We remind you that, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, for tomorrow, Monday, July 10, 2023, a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted for the following areas:

South Aegean Region (Rhodes, Kalymnos, Karpathos)
North Aegean Region (Chios Region, Samos Region, Ikaria Region)
Region of Crete (PE Lasithi, PE Heraklion, PE Rethymnon).
