She learned that she maintains a cohabitation contract with an unknown man, a citizen of Albania – whom she has never seen in her life – and, in fact, that she lives with him in a rented house, hundreds of kilometers away from her residence.
A 31-year-old woman was left with her wedding dress in her hand, who, following the prescribed procedures for her wedding, with her longtime partner, made a tragic discovery.
It was informed thati maintains a cohabitation agreement with an unknown man, a citizen of Albania – whom she has never seen in her life – and, in fact, that she lives with him in a rented house, hundreds of kilometers away from her place of residence.
The woman in question had planned to marry next August but, following this development, it seems unlikely that she will be able to meet the set date, as time-consuming court decisions are required to annul the previous cohabitation agreement, which was confirmed without her knowledge.
According to her lawyer, the 31-year-old fell victim to a spiral that legitimizes foreigners, as shrewds used her stolen identity.
On the afternoon of February 16, 2023, at the White Tower Security Department, her 32-year-old fiancé reported the burglary that took place a few hours earlier in the apartment where they lived in Thessaloniki. Unknown perpetrator(s) entered the premises through the main entrance without any signs of tampering and removed a mobile phone, two laptops, a digital watch, other electronic items, gold jewelery and two wallets, one of which contained the police ID card , the TIN and AMKA of the 31-year-old.
Civil marriage license application
A month ago, the woman applied online for a civil marriage license intending to marry her fiance. The wedding was set to take place in the region of Halkidiki, on August 26.
On June 22, via e-mail, the woman received a message from GOV.GR that said “failure to process of your request because there is a pending settlement of your family share”.
And this because from a document of the Registry Office of Agios Dimitrios, at Dodoni, Ioanninait emerged that she entered into a cohabitation agreement with a 30-year-old Albanian named Ardinel Zupa.
The perpetrator or perpetrators appear to have made up forged document notarial deed for the cohabitation agreement. “…On the day this deed was drawn up, my deed registration book would have a number starting with 9061, so it cannot have been drawn up by me” states the notary in his written confirmation.
The couple were alarmed when on March 3, 2023, a message arrived on the woman’s email. The sender was AADE who made it known that there is one rented housea where she appears to reside with her Albanian-alleged husband. The seat of this particular house is in the settlement of Nea Musiotitsis, Ioannina.
“Cohabitation agreements with forged notarial acts”
“Throughout Greece, there are spirals or spirals that fabricate fake notarial deeds of cohabitation contracts from scratch and declare the marriage in remote registries from the notary office where the cohabitation contract was supposedly made. In our case from Thessaloniki to the Dodoni registry office.
These notarial acts are used by foreigners to obtain a residence permit, even if temporary, due to marriage. This person also made a lease agreement to prove that he has a domicile and lives with his non-existent wife who had no idea.
The matter has gained dimensions because the girl has planned her wedding, on August 26, 2023 and all the preparations have been made (wedding dress, suits, favors, reception area, etc.), while thousands of euros have been spent.
However, within these narrow margins, the marriage is impossible to take place because there is no time to issue the necessary court decisions to delete this non-existent marriage-cohabitation agreement” pointed out to GRTimes the lawyer of the victims Charalambos Apostolidis.
