A raid on a structure for the elderly in the district of Heraklion was carried out by the Heraklion Security, on Tuesday morning, following a prosecutor’s order and following complaints about conditions in the said structure, which endanger the integrity of the elderly living in the Structure.

This morning, Heraklion Security Police officers conducted an autopsy at the Elderly Building, where 92 people live, and found the stability of most of the complaints that had been made.

More specifically, the complaints concerned the cleanliness of the nursing home’s premises and the prevailing messiness, with various items even piled up on the stairs. However, the issue of space constraints was also reported, as according to Cretalive’s information, it was reported that even three people live in small chambers.

At the same time, damages were found to the ceilings of the rooms, lack of supervision of the beds by staff, even the absence of emergency exits, while the wear and tear on the railings on the balconies is also worrying.

The 60-year-old owner of the structure was arrested and with the case file that will be formed, he will be taken to the Prosecutor.
