By Aris Galanopoulos
Ford today announces the immediate availability for a limited number of vehicles in the Greek market of the new E-Transit Van, the electric version of the most popular van model in the whole world, which is coming to overturn the data not only by increasing productivity, but at the same time reducing operational costs for both fleet managers and each professional driver.
With advanced connected vehicle technologies, innovative support services and load-carrying capabilities on par with other models in the popular Transit family, the new all-electric E-Transit Van is available in two power versions, delivering 184PS and 269PS, all with maximum torque 430 Nm and drive to the rear wheels for better traction at full load, which draw energy from a compact lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 67 kWh that ensures freedom of movement in every move and autonomy with a full charge that reaches 350 km in the combined cycle according to with the WLTP protocol – a distance that is three times that covered by an average commercial vehicle driver in Europe every day.
With fast charging to increase productivity
The new E-Transit Van offers the ability to charge with alternating current (AC) and fast charging with direct current (DC). The built-in 11.3 kW charger offers a full charge of the lithium-ion battery in 8.2 hours. Also, with the help of a DC fast charger with a power of 115 kW, the new E Transit Van can charge the battery from 15% to 80% of its capacity in approximately 34 minutes.
Optimizing efficiency with advanced drive modes
To further optimize efficiency, drivers of the new E-Transit Van have at their disposal special driving programs (drive modes) adapted to the model’s advanced electric drive system. For example, with the Eco program it is possible to optimize the use of electricity by up to 8-10% when the new E-Transit Van is driven without a load with brisk acceleration or at high speeds on the motorway. This driver program limits the E-Transit Van’s top speed, controls acceleration and optimizes the performance of the air conditioning system to maximize the range available. Also, the new E-Transit Van supports the Scheduled Pre-Conditioning function, which allows the air conditioning system to be programmed to set the desired temperature in the cabin while the vehicle is being charged, in order not to affect the maximum available range.
With next-generation connectivity and top-notch security
The new E-Transit Van comes standard with the FordPass Connect modem, which offers seamless connectivity so all commercial vehicle customers can manage and optimize fleet efficiency with a range of specialist electric vehicle services available through Ford Telematics. At the same time, Ford’s SYNC 4 communication and entertainment system comes as standard with an easy-to-use 12″ touchscreen combined with voice recognition and an integrated navigation system with upgraded cloud features. With over-the-air (OTA) updates, the new E Transit Van’s SYNC software and technology constantly benefits from the latest new features.
Top transport capabilities for every professional
Uncompromising in its transport capabilities, the new E-Transit Van provides professionals with a load space of up to 15.1 m3, a price that is identical to that of a diesel rear-wheel drive Transit. Its payload reaches 1,616 kg.
For reduced operating costs
E-Transit features a range of advanced technologies designed to help corporate customers reduce their insurance costs. Among these technologies are Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Lane Change Warning & Aid as well as a 360-degree camera with Reverse Brake Assist. Together with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, these elements help maintain fleet safety standards by reducing the risk of accidents. Also, the new E-Transit not only contributes to the sustainable operation of companies, but also offers many more advantages for businesses by reducing the cost of ownership from service costs by up to 40% compared to models equipped with internal combustion engines, as resulting in lower maintenance costs.
With rich standard equipment
The new E-Transit Van is equipped with a multitude of systems, technologies and accessories that ensure top comfort and safety, combined with convenience for all professionals. Among the elements that stand out are:
- Central touch screen 12” with SYNC 4 & Integrated Navigation System
- Electronic automatic air conditioning system
- Electronic parking brake
