A message via 112 was sent to residents of Attica, but also of the wider area around Dervenochoria, inviting them to stay indoors and close doors and windows due to the ongoing forest fire.
Specifically, the message states: “A forest fire is developing in the area of Dervenochoria. The fumes are directed to your area. Stay indoors, close doors and windows. Self-protection instructions: https://www.civilprotection.gr/el/dasikes-pyrkagies”.
In this morning’s emergency briefing, the press representative of the Fire Brigade, Yiannis Artophios, said: “On all the fronts of the fires, an all-night battle was fought by all the Civil Protection forces”.
The first priority was and remains the safeguarding human life and of course the protection of critical public infrastructures of vital importance but also of citizens’ private property”underlined Mr. Artophios.
As he informed, pThe fire in Dervenochoria is in full development. At the point, they try a lot strong forces of the Fire Department: 140 firefighters, 5 infantry units, 48 vehicles, 6 aircraft and 1 helicopter, as informed by Mr. Artophios.

The fire in Dervenochoria started from the Panakto areapassed through the village of Prasinos and on Tuesday morning is heading towards Magoula – Mandra.
Due to the fire in Dervenochoria, vehicular traffic remains closed:
- On Fylis Street from the Holy Dormition Monastery of Kleiston.
- On the provincial road Oinois-Magoulas from the TITAN factory.

Very high fire hazard (risk category 4) is predicted today, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, for six regions of Greece, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gov.gr).
Particularly, very high fire hazard provided for the following areas:
– Region of Attica (including the island of Kythira)
– Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia)
– Peloponnese Region (Corinthia Region, Argolis Region, Laconia Region)

THE a fire broke out shortly after 12 noon on New Kouvara Attica, on Panio Oros and extended to Saronida, Lagonisi and Anavyssos delivering houses and cars on fire. At the same time, the Hellenic Police and the EKAV have deployed strong forces, while the Region of Attica has deployed a large number of water vehicles.
12 kilometers in 2 hours
As reported by the Fire Department, the fire from its start, due to the strong winds, covered 12 kilometers in 2 hours, became threatening causing damage, that is why and for precautionary reasons were issued 5 messages from 112 warning them about the progress of the fire and for their preventive removal to a safe destination.
