Units of the Hellenic Cyprus Force (ELDYK) were visited today by the Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias, where he was informed by their managements about their organization, mission, current operational and training activities and inspected their facilities.

In his speech to the ELDYK executives and veterans, Mr. Hardalias, after repeating that our Cyprus remains divided, as a result of the Turkish invasion, pointed out, among other things:

“I want to assure you that our country is strong, our country is a protagonist, our country with its weapons program, through defense agreements, through its strategy, has left behind its bad past and is now a protagonist in the eastern Mediterranean region and throughout the Aegean.

And be proud that you are here on this island, where I am sure you have visited all the great places of sacrifice. Remember something: In the Motherland, nothing was taken for granted, nothing was given to us over the centuries. And if we had alliances, and if we had friendships, we fought all the big battles alone. And that’s what you prepare for, and that’s what you get used to. And that’s why we will continue to be close to you and assure you through our specific strategy and policy, that if ever needed you will have everything you need to be able to hold the Flag high.”

The Deputy Minister of National Defense was accompanied by the ELDYK commander, Colonel Panagiotis Keramidas, while Brigadier General Christos Siorendas was also present.
