For the third 24 hours, the battle of the fire brigades with the fire fronts in Western Attica and Dervenochoria continued. Since the early afternoon, dozens of firefighters and aerial vehicles have gone overboard in order to contain the new outbreaks created by the large flare-ups in the area between Mandra and Magoula.

Many settlements were evacuated, following a message sent by 112 and properties were set ablaze, while even more areas of valuable forest were lost.

Until the sun went down, 11 planes and 11 helicopters were operating in the wider area, supporting the efforts of dozens of firefighters on the ground. The effort to limit the fronts will be continued by the ground forces throughout the night, but also on Friday, for the 4th consecutive day.

Settlements were evacuated, houses burned

According to the report, the flames have burned houses in Agia Sotira. The fire went across the street and burned a house, while advancing very rapidly through the settlement.

The authorities gave order by message from 112 to evacuate from Agia Sotirain order not to endanger lives, as well as evacuation of the settlements of Paleokoundoura, Panorama Mandras and Paleochori towards Oinoi.

After 6 pm, an evacuation order was also given for Aglios Ioannou Korakas, with the message from 112 calling the residents to move to Mandra.

The situation is dramatic in the settlement of Agia Sotiras, with scattered hearths have developed between the houses and in the yards of the houseswhile at least one house went up in flames.

“In the wider area, 11 aircraft and 11 helicopters are operating from the air, including the four aircraft made available to us by the European Civil Protection Mechanism from Italy and France,” said the representative of the Fire Department.

Resurgence in Meletaki as well – Burning forest

A great resurgence was also noted in Meletaki Megaron, with the front burning the forest in the area. Ground forces and aerial vehicles have rushed to the scene.

Evacuation order in Oinoi and Agios Panteleimonas

The authorities gave an order to evacuate Oinois, through a message from 112, as the front that flared up in Dervenochoria seems to be taking on large dimensions and moving out of control.

The authorities are calling on residents to move from the area of ​​Oinoi to Erythres, as a large forest fire is in progress.

At the moment, a Greek CL-415 is operating in the area of ​​Pournari – Karaouli to Oinoi, accompanied by 2 Italian and 2 French CL-415s.
In addition, a CL-215 from Elefsina and a CL-415 from Thessaloniki take off. 3 Tractors from Aghialos also took off and are approaching.

After 7 pm, an evacuation message was also sent to Agios Panteleimonas, as the fire front is expanding.

At 19:30 a message was also sent to the residents of the Kiafa area, who are asked to move to Mandra and Elefsina.
