Passengers on the flight, which was scheduled to depart at 7.20am, were told on arrival at the airport that their flight had been canceled
Pandemonium prevailed on Friday morning at the airport “Dim. Vikelas” of Syros, when the passengers bound for Athens they were informed at the last minute that their flight was cancelled.
According to “Public Opinion” the reason for the cancellation was the fact that the only employee got sick of the Air Traffic and Flight Information Controllers Branch (AFISO) that exists at Syros airport.
Passengers on the flight, which was scheduled to depart at 7:20 am, were informed as soon as they arrived at the airport and went to check in. Naturally, there was tension between the passengers and the airport officials, since, as they complain to “Koini Gnomi”, there was no information, so that they could leave the island by some other means.
Among the passengers were several who had connecting flights with other destinations abroad, which they missed through no fault of their own, as well as travelers with health problems who chose the plane to travel, as a safer means.
