The state apparatus is ready for the fires and the heat wave, as the Regional Governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, said speaking to SKAI and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias.

“Our goal is to help the national effort on the issues of fires and to give instructions to our fellow citizens. It should be understood that during these hours, only if there is a reason should we move in the environment. And much more to have muscle strain. I would ask if there is no reason, especially the vulnerable groups and the elderly, not to go for walks during these very hot hours,” said Mr. Patoulis.

“Our parks, in the last three years, have been completely upgraded, they have become parks of European standards and obviously they should be protected. These parks should stay alive, host us in a few days. It is not the best in hot weather to have open parks,” stressing that there are many reasons for this, such as for health reasons and because there is high flammability. “For prevention issues, the parks remain closed for two or three days. And in less than 24 hours they will be open and welcoming again”, he added.
