The emergency department and the country’s hospitals have been on high alert since last week
The health problems experienced by people who belong to vulnerable groups are intensifying due to the heat that is affecting our country. According to ERT, EKAV rescuers and hospital staff recorded the cases of patients who were transferred to hospitals with symptoms of heat stroke, fainting episodes and other health problems caused by the heat.
More specifically, in the last three 24 hours, i.e. since the start of the new heat wave, 38 cases of heat stroke occurred in the Attica Basin. In particular, 10 incidents with symptoms of heat stroke occurred on Wednesday 19 July, nine incidents on Thursday 20/7 and 19 incidents on Friday 21/7.
But be careful! The cases may be much more because… Some pathological or cardiac or fainting cases when taken to the hospital may prove to be due to heatstroke. This is difficult to record.
Also, many people can go to the hospital with their own symptoms of heatstroke dizziness. Already last week, in the first wave of heat, EKAB and hospitals are on heightened alert.
