Low temperatures and snow in the mountains were brought to Northern Greece by the bad weather “Elpida” without any particular problems being reported so far.
The first snow fell in the mountains of Thessaloniki, in Filiros and Chortiatis, while there was light and short snowfall, earlier, in the city center. Snowfall occurs towards the ski resorts of Seli, 3-5 Pigadia and Kaimaktsalan and in parts of the road network to them the traffic is carried out with anti-skid chains. From the morning it snows from time to time in Florina, while snowfall occurs in the mountains of Halkidiki.
Anti-skid chains are necessary on the national roads of Florina – Krystallopigi border station (via Vigla) (from the 1st km to the 28th km), Florina – Kozani, (from the 1st to the 28th km), Florina – Nikis (from the 1st to the 18th km) and on the vertical axis of the Egnatia Odos (A-27) Florina – Niki.
In addition, anti-skid chains are needed in the provincial and municipal road network of the Municipality of Florina and in the provincial roads Aetou – Nymfaio, Kastoria – Florina (via Vitsi) and Ptolemaida – Vlasti.
Regarding the temperatures -9 degrees Celsius, he recorded the thermometer in Lailias, -7 in Seli, -6 in Vlasti, -3 in Kozani, -2 in Florina and Amynteo, -1 in Nevrokopi and Polygyros. At 0 degrees is the temperature in Velvento, Grevena and Kastoria, in Kilkis at 1 degree, in Veria and Dion at 3.
