At the meeting of the coordinating body of Civil Protection that is taking place at this time in the village of Apollona in Rhodes, the Minister of Rural Development and Food is present, Lefteris Avgenakiswho has been visiting the areas of the island affected by the fires since the afternoon

The minister, accompanied by the mayor of Rhodes, Antonis Kambourakis and the president of the regional council, Filimonas Zannetidis, visited the areas of Asklipio, Kiotari, Laermas and Apollo of Rhodes.

As Mr. Avgenakis from the village of Apollona stated, Rhodes was tested but did not give up – and in cooperation with the municipality and the Region, as well as with the local executives and services, we are working together so that very quickly it can find again her pace.

Mr. Avgenakis also underlined that from the first moment the Prime Minister showed his interest in the difficult days that the island of Rhodes is going through. “So, with me is the president of ELGA, Mr. Andreas Lykourentzos, who already has the details of the damage assessment, and with unprecedented speed, we are starting the compensation process,” said the minister. For their part, Messrs. Kambourakis and Zannetidis, as well as the MP for Dodecanese of ND, Vassilis Ypsilantis, thanked the government and personally Mr. Avgenakis for the immediate response.

On Friday, at 11:00, Mr. Avgenakis will meet in his office with the regional governor of South Aegean, George Hatzimarkos and at 12:00 he will have a meeting at the town hall with the mayor of Rhodes, Antonis Kambourakis.
