A fatal traffic accident two years ago is apparently the reason for the ongoing confrontation between two Roma families in the district of Nea Smyrni, Larisa, whose representatives exchanged shots in the early hours of yesterday morning – according to information from “Eleftheria” – for intimidation.

It is the second time that the two families have come into conflict after the fatal accident that occurred in 2021 in Larissa, assigning responsibility for the reasons why the unfortunate 18-year-old allegedly got into the passenger car and finally lost her life in an “unjustified » traffic accident that occurred on Ir. Polytechnic and without having proven the involvement of another vehicle, at least according to the information that had become known in the first hours of the accident.

The accident therefore occurred at 7:20 in the morning of November 10, 2021, when the passenger car in which the group of five Roma residents of Nea Smyrni were traveling while moving in the direction of Volou Street towards Agias Street, at the junction of Ir . Polytechniou 169 and Koutsina under circumstances that are being investigated by the Larissa Traffic Department, the vehicle driven by the 28-year-old Roma swerved to the right and then hit a side metal safety barrier at speed. The result of the impact was that an 18-year-old passenger who was sitting in the back seat of the car lost her life, while a 20-year-old passenger who was also sitting in the back seat was seriously injured. None of the three men in the group, the 28-year-old driver and the other two passengers, 18 and 21 years old, were injured in the collision, while the car suffered serious material damage.

So, yesterday and shortly before 6:30 in the morning, the 40-year-old father of the unfortunate 18-year-old girl, with a stun gun, shot at the house of a 62-year-old relative of one of the boys who were in the car involved in the accident.

According to information from the newspaper, the 40-year-old shot with unfired cartridges, which is why he is being assessed by EL.AS. that he shot for intimidation. The 62-year-old fired back at the 40-year-old using a shotgun, luckily no one was injured. Police officers of the Larissa Security Directorate arrested the 40-year-old yesterday morning, while yesterday afternoon they also arrested the 62-year-old. The two arrested on charges of – among other things – weapons legislation are expected to be brought before the Criminal Prosecutor of Larisa today. From EL.AS. it is being investigated whether yesterday’s shootings were preceded by quarrels between members of the two families, as had happened in the past.
