President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that the heads of all regional recruitment centers in Ukraine are being removed from their posts amid concerns over corruption.

Zelensky said the assessment of Ukraine’s recruitment centers revealed signs of abuse at the professional level, ranging from illicit enrichment to moving men of military age across the border while a war-related ban is in place.

“This system should be run by people who know exactly what war is and why cynicism and financialization during war is treason,” Zelenksi said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app.

Kyiv has made fighting corruption a top priority while facing the invasion of Russia and seeking to join the European Union.

The Ukrainian president said that General Valery Zaluzny will be responsible for implementing the decision and that new candidates for these positions will first be evaluated by Ukraine’s internal security service, the SBU.
