ELAS arrested 892 people during targeted operationswhich took place in Southern Greece during the celebration of the Fifteenth of August and more specifically the period from 11 to 16 August 2023, in the context of the implementation of the Strategic Planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters to deal with crime and improve the level of security of citizens.

Police officers from various agencies took part in the operations, taking into account local operational plans and giving special emphasis on areas and settlements where increased incidents of delinquency are observed.

According to ELAS during the above actions in Southern Greece, a total of 33,755 vehicles and 46,853 people were checked while they were carried out:

– 892 arrests for various offenses and for Code of Criminal Procedure violations,

– 2,164 additions,

– 9,140 violations of the Code of Civil Procedure

– 4 confiscations and 370 vehicle immobilizations.

in addition to special importance was given to the policing of the historical center of Athens where, with the participation of police officers from the Patrol Sub-Directorate of the Athens Police Directorate, 1,296 people were checked, 98 people were brought in while 21 people were arrested.

Similar actions took place in Corinthia, where 195 person checks and 187 vehicle checks were carried out, while 14 people were arrested.

Also, the special operational actions continued in areas of Western Attica, which they focused on Agia Varvara, Zefyri and Menidi.

-1,152 checks of people and 438 vehicles were carried out,

-225 people were brought in,

-20 people were arrested,

– 5 Code violations were confirmed, while 1 stolen vehicle and 1 stolen motorcycle were found.
