Tomorrow, Sunday, August 20, 2023, is also predicted to be a difficult day in terms of fire risk, as according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, a very high risk (category 4) is predicted for a large part of the country, including Attica.

In particular, a very high risk of fire category 4 is predicted for the following areas:

– Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (Evros PE, including the island of Samothraki, Kavala PE, Thassos PE)

– Region of Central Macedonia (Halkidiki PE, Mount Athos)

– Region of Attica

– Peloponnese Region (Corinthia Region, Argolis Region)

– Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Fthiotida, PE Evia, including the island of Skyros)

– Northern Aegean Region (Lemnos PE, Lesvos PE)

In the above areas, Fire Service personnel remain on partial alert, while aerial surveillance patrols continue, as well as patrols by fire, police and military forces.

At the same time, the Plan of Civil Protection actions to deal with risks due to forest fires is implemented, according to which, among other things, the implementation of the measure of the preventive ban on vehicle traffic and the stay of excursionists in national forests, forests and “vulnerable” areas.

In addition, in direct cooperation with the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, all relevant government agencies involved, as well as the Regions and Municipalities of the above areas, have been informed, so that they are on increased readiness to take measures within their competence.

Finally, citizens are once again appealed to be especially careful and not to carry out work or other activities in the open air that can cause a fire, and in case of fire to call 199 immediately.
