A large fire has been burning since noon in Psachna in Evia, creating serious problems and threatening residential areas.

Great damage has been caused in the area of ​​Agia Paraskevi and specifically to local businesses.

However, after concerted efforts, the small church of Agia Paraskevi was saved.

Earlier a message was sent from 112 informing citizens to be ready, which proved to be particularly important as shortly before 14:00 new messages from 112 asked for the evacuation of specific areas.

The first message concerned South Psachna, asking residents to move towards Psachna.

92 firefighters with 30 vehicles, three groups of pedestrians, three aircraft and two helicopters operate on the front.

In addition, 19 French firefighters are assisting with their vehicles.

The fire started at around 10:00 in the morning behind the EKPA complex in Psachna, while Firefighters from the SEDDD Psachna immediately arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control. However, a little later, about 1 kilometer away from the fire, a new outbreak broke out.

Efforts to prevent the fire from reaching the forest

Due to the strong winds, the new focus escaped towards Agia Paraskevi and at this time there is an air and ground battle so that it does not pass behind Vatonas and ascend as then the situation will become much more difficult and the forest will be threatened.
