Sixty-nine of the hospital’s patients have been transferred to the passenger-vehicle ferry “Adamantios Korais”. The rest have already been transferred to other hospitals.
The night was very difficult for the fire fronts that are burning in different parts of the country, with the main one being that of Alexandroupoli, where the flames reached earlier the premises of the city’s General Hospital, which was evacuated.
Sixty-nine of the hospital’s patients have been transferred to the passenger-vehicle ferry “Adamantios Korai” with the rest having already been transferred to other hospitals.
According to information, 115 transports were made with 30 EKAB ambulances from Alexandroupolis, Komotini, Kavala, Xanthi, Didymoteicho, Thessaloniki and three military ones under the orders of the EKAB president, Nikos Papaevstathiou.
For the operation, two units of the Special Disaster Department of EKAB and a mobile coordination center arrived in Alexandroupoli.
Of the 115 patients, 12 were neonates and 8 ICU patients. Another 50 or so ambulatory patients were transported by buses.
The patients were taken to Komotini and Xanthi hospitals and the newborns to Kavala.
The operation is coordinated by the Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistokleous and the president of EKAV Nikos Papaevstathiou.
