Curfew in forests and national parks of Epirus is valid with a decision signed by the regional governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kahrimanis.

In particular, the passage, stay and movement of persons and vehicles in forests and forest lands, including national parks and special protection areas, is prohibited as a precaution.

The decision was taken following a document sent by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, to take additional prevention and preparedness measures due to high fire risk category 4 and extreme fire risk – State of Alert, category 5.

The decision is valid from today, August 22, 2023 at 10:00 am. until August 24 at 06:00 am

Limited passage is allowed to persons who live or work in these areas exclusively for their movement to and from their residence as well as their place of work.

Excluded from the prohibition are the machines and vehicles of the Services, the Municipalities as well as the assistance vehicles, as well as the employees of the Services and the Municipalities when they are on duty and of the voluntary groups, organizations of Civil Protection, after the order of the Fire Services when and where will be needed.

Also, the mayors are invited to post the decision on the bulletin boards of the Municipalities, Municipal Units and Communities and for all residents to take notice
