Threatens Parnitha from the north – Speaking to SKAI 100.3, the deputy regional governor of Attica, Vassilis Kokkalis, complained that in the last two hours, at least five fires broke out in the area of Avlona. Twelve fires in the last 24 hours in Avlonas.
A new outbreak of fire broke out a little while ago above Avlona, in the national park of Parnitha, and near the location “Agios Georgios”.
Six firefighters with two vehicles are working, but the forces are being reinforced.
Speaking earlier to SKAI 100.3, the deputy regional governor of Attica, responsible for the Protection Policy, Vasilis Kokkalis complained that in the last two hours there were at least five fire outbreaks in the area of Avlona.
He pointed out that the fire brigade extinguished one fire and after a while another broke out in a different place in the same area.
The deputy governor even said that there are complaints about a specific silver van, the driver of which was seen by residents setting fire.
“His information has been withheld, it will be investigated,” said Mr. Kokkalis.
Referring to the Parnitha fire, he emphasized that there is no active front, and where there is smoke and there is a risk of rekindling, water is being continuously dropped from the air.
And the representative of the Fire Department John Baker in the emergency briefing he stated that in the last 24 hours there were 12 fires in Avlonas alone.
