Nine outbreaks of fire occurred in less than four hours, which fortunately were brought under control, as reported by Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias.

The fire on the southern side of Parnitha presented an improved image, when successive outbreaks broke out from Avlonas to the area of ​​Sykaminos which is on the northern side of the mountain.

In particular, according to the data of the fire department, the barrage of arson began shortly after 8 am in the areas of Sykamino, Asprochoma and Agios Georgios.

The authorities have proceeded to arrest four suspects for arson at noon on Thursday. The two occurred earlier in Avlonas and then two more occurred in Menidi, where the image of the fire in front of Agia Paraskevi is currently improved.

“What is happening is not only impermissible, but obscene and criminal,” noted the minister, adding that a silver agricultural semi-truck was identified as possibly involved in the incidents, while Suspects are brought in.

“The Investigative Department of the Fire Brigade, mainly the Greek Police and anyway the EYP will do everything to arrest the arsonists” said Mr. Kikilias and concluded: “You commit crime against the country, you will not be spared, we will find you, you will be accountable to the Justice.”
