The rapid intervention of the Fire Department prevented the worst, although in Andros a settlement was threatened as strong winds blow.

At the same time, for the eighth day the fire is raging in Hebrew.

“We had a lot of lightning with the result that here in the area of ​​Grammatiko we have many incidents of fire, at least in 4 places, one of which was near houses,” said the Mayor of Marathon, Stergios Tsirkas.

The fire was brought under partial control very soon, there were no damages to houses and crops, etc.

Six fires broke out in the early morning due to lightning in the southern suburbs.

“It’s a phenomenon called electrical storms, it was quite heavy, we had fire in 6 different parts of our municipality on the surrounding hills and in Vari and Voula. Within an hour or so, the system responded and the fire brigade with 5 vehicles, the civil protection of our municipality with another 11, these 6 fires were controlled quite early,” said the mayor of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Grigoris Konstandellos.
