Early this Monday morning, the great operation was completed which was set up at the University Hospital of Heraklion, for the organ donation from a 22-year-old who died too early after a traffic accident.
According to Cretalive information, the young man’s family, when informed by doctors that his condition was irreversible, took the brave decision and gave their consent so that their son’s death could offer hope to our fellow human beings.

As stated in Cretalive by Governor of the University Hospital Giorgos Chalkiadakisafter all the provisions of the relevant protocol were followed, in the early hours of Monday the process started receiving the instruments.
The heart of the 22-year-old he was transferred to the Onassios Cardiac Surgery Center, the liver to the Hippocrates of Thessaloniki, the kidneys to the People’s Hospital in Athens and the lungs to Padua, Italy.

Mr. Chalkiadakis did not fail to express his gratitude to the family of the young man, for the greatness of soul that he showed in these tragic moments.

The 22-year-old was injured last Tuesday, in a traffic accident with a motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with internal bleeding.
He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, where, despite the efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to keep him alive.
