The second payment exceeded 310,000 euros – Very soon the platform will open for households and businesses affected by the August fires.
On Thursday, August 31, 2023, the second first aid payment was made to those affected by the fires that occurred in July in various regions of the country.
Particularly, 316,582.32 euros were credited to the bank accounts of 61 beneficiaries.
In total, to date, 1,192,960.75 euros have been granted as first aid to 227 unique VAT numbers.
It is noted that immediately after the large fires of July, which affected eight regional units, the electronic platform arogi.gov.gr was activated on August 3 for the provision of first aid for housing assistance, as well as for business and non-profit organizations . Regarding first aid against housing assistance, the amount of aid amounts to 10,000 euros for buildings with heavy damages that make them dangerous to use (“red”) and in 5,000 euros for buildings with serious damage which make them temporarily unsafe to use (“yellow”).
As for the first aid component against a grant, the amount of the aid amounts to 4,000 euros for each business or entity with very serious material damage and 2,000 euros for each business or organization with serious material damage. It is noted that in order for the first aid payments to businesses or livestock units to proceed, the relevant data from the Regions will have to come first, which is expected. It should be noted that this first payment to the beneficiaries is made while the arogi.gov.gr platform is still open for applications. Very soon, in fact, the platform will also accept applications from households and businesses affected by the August fires.
Finally, it is noted that (a) the amount of first aid received by each business or each livestock unit is offset against the amount of the final grantas determined by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, after the records of losses by the State aid committees of the Region, and (b) the amount of the first aid received by each owner is offset against the amount of the final housing assistance, as this will be determined by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection with a relevant decision on the demarcation and granting of housing assistance.
