He issued a statement on Friday evening the Greek Policefollowing the uproar caused by the revelation of the director of Sky 100.3 Vasilis Chiotis that the SYRIZA presidential candidate Stefanos Kasselakis he requested and received police protection for himself and his partner.
As pointed out in the announcement of ELAS, “the specific candidate requested the custody of the same, as well as a person of his environment”.
Following the public statement of Mr. Kasselakis (via twitter he made it known that he requested the withdrawal of the guard) the police force that had been allocated will be withdrawn.

Regarding the availability of police officers for the protection of a candidate for party president, the Hellenic Police Headquarters clarifies the following.
- The specific candidate requested the custody of himself, as well as of a person from his environment.
- The request was forwarded to the relevant services. For the management of the request and the disposition of the police forces, the prescribed procedure was followed by the competent services.
- Following a public statement on the non-disposal of the police personnel in question, the police force that had been deployed will be withdrawn.
Stefanos Kasselakis resigns from the police force after the uproar

For his part, Vassilis Chiotis, with his post on twitter, asks the candidate president of SYRIZA the following question: Did he ask for police protection himself or was it provided to him by ELAS. In particular, the director of Sky 100.3 wrote:
I have just been informed that Mr. Kasselakis has resigned from the guard provided by EL.AS. to himself but also to his partner.
