An 18-year-old disabled man fell victim to sexual abuse while working on the island of Alonissos last July. According to a publication on the newspaper.gr website, the young man, who is on the spectrum of mental retardation, already testified to the police authorities and was examined by the investigator in Volos.

According to what the 18-year-old said, he works in a private traditional building on the island which has been converted into a museum, selling tickets to visitors. A 37-year-old and a 53-year-old woman from Thessaloniki visit this building, and after the 18-year-old buys them tickets, he goes up with the 37-year-old to the upper floor, with the woman not following them.

There, the 37-year-old began to fondle the child, while he performed other sexual acts against the 18-year-old, who, due to his condition, did not understand their importance and was unable to resist.

Characteristically, in response to the 18-year-old’s question, “What are you doing?” the 37-year-old reportedly replied: “Sit down, what I’m about to do to you is very good.” While the man and the child were upstairs, the 53-year-old woman remained on the ground floor of the building.

The incident came to justice some time later, when the 18-year-old confessed to a friend what had happened to him, and he advised him to talk about the incident to his father. The 18-year-old actually followed his friend’s advice, with the father appealing to the police where he filed a complaint against the two “visitors”.

The 37-year-old man and the 53-year-old woman were arrested in Alonissos on 30/8, while yesterday they were brought before the investigator in Volos, where they requested and received a deadline to apologize on Monday 4/9.

The 37-year-old has been prosecuted for abusing a person unable to resist in a sexual act to the degree of a felony, while his 53-year-old companion is accused of simple complicity in the aforementioned act.
