An “oasis” of green area of 500 sq.m., “which enables young Athenians to spend their free time beautifully, carefree and creatively, was created from “scratch” by the Municipality of Athens in densely built neighborhood of Kypseli» states in a related announcement.
The Municipality of Athens notes that: “This is a beautiful, safe, sustainable, public space, universally accessible to people with wheelchairs and mobility difficulties. This special lung of greenery, located on the emblematic pedestrian street of Fokionos Negri, enables children to live unforgettable experiences together with their friends and family, in a natural environment flooded with colorful plants.
The activity paths of the Garden offer sensory experiences, environmental education and give the possibility of exploration and socialization to its young visitors.
Garden elements are made of natural materials: plants, soil, water and tree trunks. The planting design includes diverse compositions of perennial herbs in organic shapes, creating an enclosed space that embraces imaginative constructions for spontaneous experiences.”

Combined with educational programs it can be a living platform for continuous environmental education and creative action.
Visitors to the garden can exercise on the specially designed activity paths. The garden activity helps to increase attention focus and reduce the symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, while its paths and compositions encourage the development of creative thinking and problem-solving skills. At the same time, it is an inclusive space where all children can interact.”
