In adjournment was brought the first case that reached the audience for the complaints made at the expense of Father Antonios and seven employees of the NGO Kivotos tou Kosmoswho are charged with serious misdemeanor charges.

This is one of the two case files formed by the investigation of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, with the second one concerning a felony charge for sexual acts against two minors, attributed to Father Antonio. At the same time, the audit of the financial management of the NGO is also underway.

The trial before the Three-member Misdemeanor Courtwhich concerns the commission of serious misdemeanor offenses against minors and teenage children hosted in the Ark’s facilities, was postponed to December 11, 2023, due to the obstruction of defense attorneys attending the trial for the tragedy in Mati.

The case file concerns heaps of offenses such as those of serious bodily harm to minors under protection, dangerous bodily harm, simple bodily harm, threat, exposure and concerns complaints of hosted children. The founder of Kivotos is facing the charge of moral spoliation in what is attributed to workers in the NGO’s premises in Athens and in provincial cities.

At the trial, more than ten victims, adults and minors, appeared in support of the Class.

According to the case file, the offenses were allegedly committed from April 2018 to August 2022 against boys, mostly teenagers, in Kivotos structures in Athens, Volos and Chios.

The indictment describes hellish conditions that the victims seem to have experienced with exhausting heavy work, many days or months of isolation in miserable conditions, physical abuse, threats, etc. The case file describes a “methodical infliction of physical exhaustion, dangerous to health and mental pain capable of causing serious mental harm” which in each case is analyzed as described by the victims.

Regarding the priest, founder of the NGO Father Antonio, the indictment states that “He caused physical injury and harm to health to minors under his protection based on a factual situation and to a person who could not defend himself, who was under his protection based on a factual situation and with whom he had an employment relationship, which resulted in their severe physical harm, by methodically causing them physical exhaustion dangerous to their health and mental pain capable of causing them serious mental harm, through their prolonged isolation”.
