A total of 1,500 calls have been received since yesterday, Tuesday, at 07.00 in the morning by the Operations Center of the Fire Brigade. Most of them mainly concern water pumping, tree cutting and removal of people to safe places, with the biggest problems facing the Region of Thessaly.

The firefighters and all the forces of Civil Protection, under particularly difficult conditions, they operate in the flooded fields and try to reach even the most remote areas, even though in some cases the road network has been destroyed and access is carried out by lifeboats and by foot units.

So far across the state 350 rescues and evacuations of people to safe places have been carried out. Water pumping is carried out in cases where this is possible and so far actions have been taken in more than 320 cases.

All Civil Protection forces, firefighters, army, police, port guards, local government remain on general alert and are implementing the plan codenamed “Dardanos 2” within the framework of the General Civil Protection Plan with the watchword “Xenocratis” to deal with the rare for the Greek data of this situation.
