The car was revealed today for the first time and without a trace of camouflage at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, shortly after its premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mustang Mach-E Rally today joins the Mustang Mach-E family pushing electric vehicles in a different direction as it is the first EV from Ford to draw inspiration from rally racing, bringing the freedom and enjoyment it traditionally offers to the dirt. a Mustang.

“Just a year ago, it was just an idea, and what you see today is a testament to the passion and intense creativity of the Model e team,” said Donna Dickson, chief engineer, Mustang Mach-E. “We’ve always explored new areas of performance, and the combination of a rally-tuned suspension, a dual-motor electric drive system and an incredible design make the new Mustang Mach-E Rally a different kind of high-performance vehicle that will excite enthusiasts of adrenaline”.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally 1 takes electric vehicle technology into a different realm while expanding the Mustang Mach-E family. This new proposal features an improved version of the Mustang Mach-E GT’s powertrain, with two electric motors, aiming for maximum power and torque values of at least 358 kW and 880 Nm. 2, 3 Electricity in the Mustang Mach-E Rally is provided by a lithium-ion battery with a useful capacity of 91 kWh.

The vehicle features a unique suspension that is 20mm higher than the Mustang Mach-E GT and is equipped with specially tuned springs, shock absorbers with MagneRide® technology and 4 front discs with a diameter of 385mm combined with red brake calipers with signature of Brembo®. 5

Specially equipped for off-road driving, the Mustang Mach-E Rally features durable, polished 19-inch white alloy wheels that draw inspiration from Ford’s long history of rally vehicles. These wheels are paired with Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in dimensions 235/55 R19, which ensure a higher profile and more grip on loose surfaces than those on the Mach-E GT.

For greater protection from rocks and gravel, the underbody features special armor for both the front and rear electric motors, as well as a protective film on the door trim and wheel arches to reduce paint damage. Additional protection is also provided by the mudguards, which are installed on the vehicle by the dealers. For emergencies, a towing base is integrated in the front of the car.

The new Mustang Mach-E Rally is equipped with Ford’s first-ever RallySport Drive Mode 6, which is designed with off-road driving in mind by adjusting the electronic control systems to allow greater sideslips, linear throttle response for better control, but also more aggressive damping for improved cornering. Drivers will also appreciate how the specific ride profile, combined with the new tires, allows the new Mustang Mach-E Rally to move in the snow as well as on roads in low-traction conditions.

For Mustang Mach-E testing, Ford created an all-new rally track at its Michigan Proving Ground facility, which was specially designed for the occasion by veteran rallycross drivers with the goal of simulating exactly what the vehicle might face in the real world. . Engineers and technicians then pushed the Mustang Mach-E Rally prototype vehicles to their limits by completing a total of 800 kilometers of tests, which simulated conditions similar to those encountered in rally-cross racing. Their goal was to make sure Ford’s new creation lived up to their design intentions.

In addition to the above, the new Mustang Mach-E Rally also has the look to match with features such as the striking rear spoiler, which is inspired by the legendary Focus® RS, unique contrasting accents including upper and lower body trims, the front splitter, the black steel roof and the overall striking front end with the fog lights integrated into the grille reminiscent of those of racing cars. Every Mustang Mach-E Rally comes standard with two racing stripes that complement its bold color palette. Customers can order the car in Grabber Blue, Shadow Black and Eruption Green exterior colours, as well as the eye-catching Grabber Yellow shade, while Star White and the new Glacier Gray are optional extras.

The interior is dominated by a combination of comfort, functionality and style that ties in with the iconic white wheels. There are also high-gloss white accents on the dashboard and lower steering wheel spokes, as well as contrast stitching on the doors. The familiar performance seats are designed by Ford and feature high-gloss white inserts on the backs. Also characteristic is the embossed inscription “Mach-E Rally” on the surface of the front part of their back.

“The Mustang Mach-E Rally puts Ford’s decades-long passion for rally racing around the world in the hands of our customers,” said Jim Farley, Ford chief executive officer. “It takes the Mustang where it has never gone before – on dirt and off-road courses. Inspired by genuine driving enthusiasts, it offers an unprecedented driving experience for the unadulterated joy of driving.”

The Mustang Mach-E Rally will be available to order in early 2024 and deliveries will begin shortly thereafter.
