“Speaking”, according to secure information, the recording system (VDR) on the bridge of Blue Horizon, when the 3 defendants crossed the threshold of the prosecutor today to apologize.

Cretalive.gr brings to light some of what was said during the critical period in the bridge, with the master in the foreground.

These conversations have been “caught” by the microphone of the bridge.

From these fragmentary conversations it appears that the captain is surprised by something he sees and then asks to know what has happened and who is the one who fell overboard, as he is informed via VHF.

The conversations in detail

The captain, who is in the process of setting sail, is suddenly heard asking “What happened?”.

A few seconds later he starts yelling in exasperation: “Are you okay? How are you doing?”

He is then heard saying: “Slow. Late”.

Someone tells him something over the intercom and the master replies: “I see, I saw.”

Immediately afterwards he gives an instruction: “too late”, asks for Traffic to be called on VHF channel 13 and is then heard asking: “come on what happened? Tell me. What happened;”.

A voice is heard in the background telling him that someone fell overboard and the captain asks: “who fell overboard?”.

At another point, the captain is heard saying “floating-floating” and a crew member replies: “floating in the dock we left.” And then the master asks the governor: “Hey M. how did it fall?”

From the intercom they answer him: “he went to go up”.

Through the depositions and the full analysis of the VDR data it is possible that there will be a full decoding of what was said and unfolded between bridge, catapult and stern on the fateful night, however it remains the point about what the master actually saw remains unclear. He actually saw, as he claims, out of the corner of his eye a man fall from the catapult, without the involvement or fault of a member of the crew or he saw nothing, he was initially informed of a “man overboard” and at a second time he was informed that a member of the crew was involved ; In the conversations, however, he is heard repeatedly asking “what happened?” and then when he is informed of the fall, he is heard to ask: “who fell into the sea.”

He, according to information, is expected to claim today in his statement before the competent investigator that he did not know exactly what had happened, that he had not noticed the altercation between the deceased Antonis and members of the crew.

What he did was to reduce the speed and power of the engines and immediately inform Piraeus Marine Traffic via VHF and also inform the 1st Port Department of the Piraeus Port Authority by telephone.
