Completed yesterday, Saturday, September 16, 2023, by the staff of Armed forces the transport of essential items for those affected by the bad weather in Thessaly, to suitably designed areas at its headquarters 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ.

As stated in a statement by the GEETHA, 120 tons of voluntary supply of essential items (clothing, footwear, bedding, packaged food) of the ED staff were transported as well as 110 tons of corresponding essential items from the stocks of ED Units/Formations from all over the territory .

“From the first moment, the Armed Forces (AF) stand by the side of our fellow human beings who are being tested by the effects of the unprecedented bad weather that hit the wider area of ​​Thessaly, assisting with personnel, means and materials in the relief of those affected”, emphasizes the GEETHA.

In detail, the GEETHA announcement:

The Armed Forces (AD) following the instructions of the Leadership, stand from the first moment on the side of our fellow human beings who are being tested by the effects of the unprecedented bad weather that hit the wider area of ​​Thessaly, assisting with personnel, means and materials in the relief of those affected.

Equally important, however, is the voluntary contribution of the staff of the EDs, which was organized following the orders of the Chief of the General Directorate of Defense, General Konstantinos Floros, under the coordination of the Directorate of Defense. In this context, on Saturday 16 September 2023, the transfer of essential items to appropriately configured areas at the headquarters of the 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ was completed, which include:

120 tons of voluntary supply of essential items (clothing, footwear, bedding, packaged food) by the ED staff.
110 tons of corresponding essential items from the stocks of ED Units/Formations from all over the territory.
The above amounts were received by the 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ and through it will be forwarded to the relevant levels of the Region of Thessaly, where they will then distribute them to the residents affected by the flooding.

The immediate awareness and mobilization of the Armed Forces through the selfless offer to fellow human beings, is proof of the high feeling of altruism that characterizes the entire staff of the ED.

The Armed Forces, in addition to their mission and work which are carried out in full, will continue, as they always do throughout time, to stand by the side of the Greek society when there is a need.
