Photos showing the 19 members of the Greek mission just a few minutes after their arrival at Benghazi airport were published by the website “The Libya Update”.
The members of the Greek mission, 16 of whom were members of the Armed Forces, are seen being briefed on the airport tarmac shortly before boarding the fateful bus to begin the search and rescue mission in flooded Libya.

“Units of the Greek army are arriving in Libya to help in the search and rescue operations to locate the victims of the floods that swept areas of the eastern region of the country” wrote in an article the website “The Libya Update” while a short time later it posted the shocking video showing their transport vehicle burning after colliding with a lorry.

Ten of the 13 wounded in total have been transferred to the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens. The remaining three are at the 251 General Aviation Hospital and the Athens Naval Hospital.
