They were identified from the State Security Sub-Directorate of the Attica Security Directorate, two people (a 17-year-old and a 40-year-old), who on March 3, 2023, during a march in the center of Athens, attacked police officers riding in a patrol car and were in Monastiraki Square.

Specifically, as it emerged from the investigation, the 17-year-old, having covered his facial features with a helmet and surgical mask and participating in a group of people, carried out successive attacks on the policemen who were riding in the patrol car, while then surrounded the interior of it with flammable liquid, strengthening fire started by other people. At the same time, it was established that the 40-year-old also attacked the patrol car, while a policeman’s personal purse was removed from inside the vehicle. The result of the attacks was the injury of the policemen and the extensive damage to the patrol car.

Furthermore, the 17-year-old was found to have participated in the attacks against police forces located on Filellinon and Othonos streets, while he also caused damage to a bank ATM on Mitropoleos street.

In a search of the 17-year-old’s home, items of clothing that he was wearing during the attack were found and confiscated.

The case filed against them concerns – as the case may be – violence against officials and judicial persons, disturbance of the public peace, arson and explosion from which a danger to a person could arise, complicity, manufacture and possession of explosive and incendiary materials and mechanisms , bodily harm, dangerous bodily harm and attempted grievous bodily harm to a police officer in complicity, attempted joint murder, threatening, insulting, theft, damage to another’s property in complicity as well as violation of weapons and flares and flares laws.
