Her own modern and fully equipped Municipal Clinic is acquired for the first time by the 7th Municipal Community of Athens, with its residents now having the opportunity to receive free health, counseling and social services, just a “breath away” from their home.

With the creation of the new Municipal Clinic in the neighborhood of Vineyardsthe municipal authority achieves “7 out of 7”, as from today every community of the city has a fully staffed and equipped municipal clinic, which can serve every citizen, quickly and efficiently.

The new Municipal Clinic will be open from 8 am to 6 pmproviding quality health services to all citizens.

Health professionals of various specialties have already been hired and will provide services, such as General practitioner, gynecologist, physiotherapist, dentist, physical therapist, midwife, nurse and nutritionistbut also social services with psychologist and social worker.

“Seven out of seven. Every community in Athens now has a modern Municipal Clinic, open to everyone. With full equipment and specialized human resources. Ready, always, to serve citizens of all ages with speed and efficiency, providing reliable health services”, said the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis.

The services provided by the new Municipal Clinic

The network of services provided by the new Municipal Clinic in the 7th Municipal Community has been adapted to the modern needs of the citizens. In particular, it provides citizens with primary care that includes clinical examination, prescribing medication and diagnostic tests, performing medical and dental procedures and even actions at the community level by specialized medical and paramedical staff of various specialties.

In fact, in order to better address the needs of each beneficiary, all scientific specialties are interconnected. Equally important, however, are the social services that will now be provided to citizens. The “list” of services includes the provision of psychosocial support, but also personalized service in the field of social services, both those provided by the municipality and those provided by public bodies and organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations within the boundaries of the Municipality of Athens.

The responsible Deputy Mayor for Public Health and Municipal Clinics, Manolis Kalambokas, said: “I am excited about the implementation of one of our most basic pre-election commitments. The 7th Community was the only Community without a municipal doctor’s office and now its residents will have the opportunity to get to know the services that the citizens of all the other Communities receive. I was born and raised in Ampelokipi, so for me personally it was a small personal gamble despite the many obstacles presented. The next goal is to include it in the context of the Multipurpose Centers, securing community funding for its further strengthening. We are proud of another addition to the health structures of the Municipality of Athens after the recent one in Petralona. The citizens of the 7th Community and of the whole of Athens have the opportunity to receive free of charge health services from experienced doctors as well as social services from specialized scientists. A very difficult undertaking is successfully completed!”

More than 450,000 appointments at the Municipal Clinics of the city

In the last four years, Municipal Dispensaries have been strengthened with additional medical staff, infrastructure and a new operating model, becoming now a point of reference for primary health care in Athens. From 2019 until today, the municipal authority has created four new Multipurpose Primary Health Care Clinics (Kypseli/Solonos/Neos Kosmos/Petralona), utilizing unexploited European resources for the benefit of the citizens.

At the same time, it secured enhanced funding of 1.7 million euros from NSRF community resources for the implementation of innovative programs and actions in the community, in the context of a modern holistic model for health with an emphasis on the vulnerable groups of residents of Athens. In this period, more than 450,000 appointments have been made at the Municipal Clinics, of which more than 210,000 were made by people who belong to susceptible and vulnerable groups of the population.

The Municipal Clinics provide Primary Health Care services to insured and uninsured citizens who have A.M.K.A.
