Panhellenic is shocked after the news that a 22-year-old mother was living a hell at the hands of her 28-year-old husband.

The man, of Albanian origin, was arrested and charged with a felony for torturing the 22-year-old woman he kept prisoner in their home in Volos, along with their 2.5-year-old child.

It is recalled that the woman managed to be saved when her neighbors heard her screams at noon on Thursday, at the moment when the 28-year-old tried to strangle her.

He had put cameras in their house

According to a report by ERT, the 28-year-old had installed a camera in order to monitor her every move through an application on his mobile even when he was away from home and at work, in order to check if she goes out of the house.

As their neighbors reported in their statements to thenewspaper.gr, during the two years that the girl lived at home, they had only seen her twice, walking in their yard, while their 2.5-year-old child had not been seen. ever seen

“We never saw the woman. We knew there was an Albanian couple living here, but we had never seen this girl. We all wondered what was going on inside this house, but there was nothing we could do. We didn’t know what was happening,” says one of her neighbors.

“She was like hooded”

While another girl confesses: “I saw her very rarely. He only went out as far as the garden. Two or three times over the years. No more. And I was impressed because she was dressed from top to bottom. Like hooded. I never saw her outside the yard of the house moving around, shopping. And I had never even seen the child.”

The scenes of horror suffered by the girl were revealed on the evening of Thursday 21/9, when neighbors mobilized hearing her screams from inside the house. When they persistently knocked on the door, the 28-year-old opened it and tried to escape, with the residents immobilizing him, while the police were called to the scene and proceeded to arrest him.

As it was revealed, that night the 28-year-old, after a crescendo of violence, grabbed the young woman by the neck and tried to strangle her, while a subsequent examination of the woman indeed revealed signs of strangulation. In a chilling testimony, the 22-year-old says that the man beat her every day, while on two other occasions he had left her in a much worse situation than the one she found herself in yesterday. But this time he came very close to killing her.

The couple was forced into marriage after pressure from the family

The couple married in Albania when the girl was just 18, in a marriage “forced” and arranged by her family, and about a year and a half later they had a child together. Two years ago, in 2021, the 28-year-old moved with the young woman and the baby to Greece, in an area just outside Volos, where he works as a builder.

There began an extreme story of confinement and abuse, which lasted two whole years. The man kept the 22-year-old and the child locked and completely isolated at home, with the child never even seeing a doctor. The girl, who had no one of her own or known people in the city, was left completely cut off. She never learned Greek, since the 28-year-old wouldn’t let her come into contact with anyone.

In the two years of her imprisonment, in the last five months she did not even see the light of the sun, as she was forbidden to go out even in the yard of the house.
